12/20/2011 Educational Technology Empowering Kids (ETEK) Set to Distribute Laptops to Area Children

On DECEMBER 9, 2011 Educational Technology Empowering Kids (ETEK), a non-profit foundation based in Spotsylvania, Virginia will be providing refurbished laptop computers to area children in association with Big Brothers and Sisters of Fredericksburg and SERVE ofStaffordVA. This event will take place at 6:00pm EST at Wytestone Suites, located at 4915 Southpoint Parkway, Fredericksburg, VA, 22407.

ETEK is a non-profit organization that raises funds to acquire educational technology (i.e., laptops, software, and internet access) and provide these tools, free of charge, to nominated children and young adults. ETEK will work with other non-profit organizations to identify recipient children and young adults.

Long-term, ETEK envisions a group of non-profit components under the ETEK umbrella. These non-profit groups will specialize in various components of acquiring and giving away educational technology and other forms of technological support to enhance educational opportunities for underprivileged children and young adults with ETEK. This particular non-profit component, started by ETEK, is laptops4kidz and can be found on the internet at www.laptops4kidz.org, etek4kidz.org and etekcares.org.

4/22/2011 CORTEK, Inc. Receives $9.6 million Task Order under their recently awarded contract at Edgewood Chemical Biological Center, (ECBC) at Aberdeen Proving Ground (APG). CORTEK will provide Program Management, Systems Acquisition Support Services, and Scientific, Engineering, Technical Assistance (SETA) to various ECBC Program Offices and Projects.

Having recently won several new Government and commercial contracts, CORTEK is very pleased to announce the opening of a new business office in Fredericksburg, Virginia.

CORTEK currently has personnel working in Falls Church, Fort Belvoir and Dahlgren, as well as locations in Florida, Missouri and Ohio. “With the new contract wins in our Northern Virginia business area, office expansion became a necessity”, reports Bobbi Shoop, CORTEK Recruitment Manager. The new office is located at 10712 Ballantraye Drive, Suite 306, Fredericksburg, VA 22407 and will house the CORTEK corporate administration, Human Resources and Security operations, as well as provide work space for up to 30 new employees CORTEK anticipates hiring under their new contracts.
